The Phantom, the Beauty's Beast and even Jeykll and Hyde have been set to music and made it to Broadway. Now the pages of the supermarket tabloids have delivered a creepy character to the stage in the new Off-Broadway production BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL. The show premiered at New York's intimate Union Square Theater on March 21, but has its origins in Hollywood's Actor's Gang Theater in 1997.

Philadelphia, or recently renamed “Zombiedelphia”, featured zombie related activities throughout the whole month of March.  With various bar crawls, makeup workshops and loads of stage performances, Philadelphia has become the hot spot for all your zombie needs.

THE FLY: THE OPERA (Stage Review)

Perhaps it seemed like a good idea at the time to the people involved, but an opera based on David Cronenberg’s classic 1986 remake of THE FLY somehow never sounded like one to this writer. Nevertheless, the project plunged into production last year, with Cronenberg himself directing, his longtime composer Howard Shore writing the score and playwright/screenwriter David Henry Hwang (who previously collaborated with Cronenberg on the film of his M. BUTTERFLY) crafting the libretto. After a world premiere in Paris this past summer, it opened at the L.A. Opera this month for a limited six-performance run…which is probably a blessing in disguise.
