The dark and evil quartet known as Goatwhore have just released their latest CD entitled “CARVING OUT THE EYES OF GOD”. Another step in evolution of their signature Louisiana Black Metal style, Goatwhore’s new album is heavier and even more blasphemous than the rusted carving blade they used to render their rival sightless.

“CARVING OUT THE EYES OF GOD” is Goatwhore’s 4th full length release, and their much anticipated follow up to their highly successful 2006 Metal Blade release, “A HAUNTING CURSE”. This CD marks the band’s 2nd collaboration with the engineering wizard Erik Rutan, from the infamous Manna Studios in Florida. The crystal clear production achieved allows us to hear those little intricate details like Zack Simmons drumming thundering triplet patterns and blistering blast beats that cut through the wall of rhythms laid down by Sammy Duet (guitar) and Nathan Bergeron (bass). Ben Falgoust’s wicked words snarl with diabolic fury, as his vocal patterns are delivered with a veteran’s precision and clarity.
The overall effect is a CD that feels like a tribute to the Black Metal forefathers Celtic Frost, Venom, and Slayer, yet sounds completely new and unlike anything else released in 2009. Highly recommended for fans of the aforementioned bands, and to all ye malicious Metal Heads who thrive on metaphysical music.

PAGAN | ON BLACK WINGS (Musick Review)When I initially received the assignment of covering the new PAGAN album ON BLACK WINGS I was a little unsure of what to expect. Sure, I invested sometime browsing the net, scanning myspace, reading any back stories I could find. Sometimes however, that's just not adequate intake to form a valid...Read More...

W.A.S.P. – BABYLON (Musick Review)Somewhere in the hard rock and metal cosmos, Blackie Lawless was granted the same passage as Overkill, Motorhead and AC/DC where recording the same album over and over again is considered his charm and not his stigma. Those following W.A.S.P. over the years will testify once Blackie Lawless officially...Read More...

Between the Buried and Me – THE GREAT MISDIRECT (Musick Review)You’re either for or against what Between the Buried and Me has done to grind metal. The form is no longer dictated by continuously forked-rhythm mandates which Napalm Death and Morbid Angel gorged themselves upon for years. Between the Buried and Me’s ALASKA opened up the possibility of new...Read More...

RAPPED AND TAGGED: CROSSWORM | MOUTH FULL OF DIRTCrossworm is one hell of a versatile Canadian, as evidenced by his latest release MOUTH FULL OF DIRT. MOUTH may be labeled dirtcore, but it's more a combination of a little self deprecation, an unhealthy load of angst and a taste of the macabre, all tangled up in the form of an impressive, emotional...Read More...

Andreas Kisser – HUBRIS I & II (Musick Review)Sepultura without the Cavalera brothers has been a tough sell for many despite the noble efforts of Andreas Kisser, Paolo, Jr., Derrick Green and current drummer John Dolabella. GRIND MADNESS AT THE BBC (Musick Review)Few (if any) radio shows could ever claim to challenge the legendary status of the late John Peel's THE PEEL SESSIONS on the BBC's Radio 1. Atreyu - CONGREGATION OF THE DAMNED (Musick Review)The metalcore and screamo explosion of the early 2000's brought with it an onslaught of bands that disappeared almost as quickly as they arrived. Suicide Silence – NO TIME TO BLEED (Musick Review)The music is as violent as the sanguinary images cased inside the packaging of Suicide Silence’s latest album NO TIME TO BLEED.
