Fango recently spoke to director Brad Rego, who’s currently up in New York’s Catskill Mountains of New York shooting his fright feature THE KILLING OF JACOB MARR. We also got a couple of exclusive behind-the-scenes photos, seen after the jump.
Indie filmmaker Brian Schiavo gave Fango a little insight into his just-completed first feature, SHRIVEN. The writer/director lensed the movie in New York City under his Strangewerks Films banner.
2K’s original BIOSHOCK game added a new twist to traditional first-person shooter storytelling, the onset of madness created by utter isolation in a crumbling dystopia. The Randian beliefs of Andrew Ryan led to a world where every man truly served himself, but by the most violent means necessary. The new sequel, BIOSHOCK 2 (available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC), takes players back to the horrendous city of Rapture, though through a more bubble-domed view.
I must confess that when I was offered the chance to review I AM VIRGIN, I was a little upset when Fango’s managing editor added, “You’d be perfect for it!” Jeez, Mike, I’m just saving myself for the right lady. Can’t a guy be chaste and unsullied in this day and age without being made fun of? And I have had sex. Yes, only with myself, but that still counts for something, don’t it?
If you know the name Kazuo “Gaira” Komizu, it’s probably as director of the super-slimy and super-gory ENTRAILS/GUTS OF A VIRGIN/BEAUTIFUL WOMAN films, which feature (can you guess?) entrails, guts, beautiful women and a phallus monster. His 1991 film BATTLE GIRL: THE LIVING DEAD IN TOKYO BAY (just out on DVD from Synapse Films) is another story.
After amazing and amusing audiences at festivals all over the world—winning awards along the way—BEST WORST MOVIE, a documentary about the notorious bad-cinema cult favorite TROLL 2, is finally headed for commercial American release.
It’s me, Marla - once again blogging about the short film. I am such the fan that I just can’t help myself! I love the horror short format. I definitely like watching the shorts as much as the filmmakers enjoy making them. And while mentioning the filmmakers, kudos to all for the amazing effort.

It’s probably safe to say that Eli Roth has never been busier than he is these days. He’s celebrating the Lionsgate Blu-ray release of his breakout feature CABIN FEVER, in a director’s cut that reflects his true vision; THE LAST EXORCISM, on which he was a producer, was recently picked up in a high-profile deal by the ‘gate for theatrical release; he’s got a batch of new movies in development with the EXORCISM team; and he’s been hitting the awards circuit for Quentin Tarantino’s INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, in which he has a co-starring role and which is up for eight Oscars on March 7.
THE WRAITH hits you in the face with the ’80s so hard that after watching Lionsgate’s special-edition DVD (coming March 2), I had to double-check and make sure that I hadn’t gone BACK TO THE FUTURE.
