Let’s face facts: the vacant, cross-eyed stare that lasers out of Charlie Manson mug shots is far more unsettling than any masked stalker or gore effect could ever hope to be. Thus Manson, notorious 1960s hippie prophet, murder-cult leader and Beatles obsessive, has been a reliable go-to bogeyman for many a horror filmmaker.

Robert Luke (pictured), writer/director/producer of the indie psycho feature THE MAN IN THE GARAGE, has ventured to the supernatural side with his latest movie, NONEXISTENT. He just wrapped this “secret project” and sent along a few exclusive photos along with the details.

Warner. Bros.’ gothic retooling of the LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD fairy tale has another actor on board: Max Irons, son of Jeremy Irons—and two more big names are in talks to join Catherine Hardwicke’s next project, THE GIRL WITH THE RED RIDING HOOD.

Carlos Brooks’ Animal Planet take on the home invasion film focuses on a different sort of tiger on the prowl. The upcoming Lionsgate release concerns a carnivorous cat rampaging a house during a hurricane, and the trailer is now online.

A prequel to ALIEN has no doubt ruffled the feathers of most genre fans and no matter what you think of the third and fourth entries, the AVP flicks can only be considered the desecration of the iconic monsters. When Ridley Scott (one of the greatest living filmmakers, who’s still making great films) officially signed on to direct the prequel a hefty amount of faith was injected into the idea of a new entry, but we haven’t heard much since then. Thankfully, Scott shed some light on the subject, read on for what he had to say!

It’s cheesy, it’s sexy, it’s lovable…it’s horrible. It has sets made out of Fun Fur and more silliness than you can shake an $800 designer stick at. It’s the groovy 1968 Roger Vadim-directed sci-fi sex romp BARBARELLA, and if you haven’t seen it, I recommend you put on your best smoking jacket, shake a martini, kick back and enjoy the supersexy swinging saga that awaits.

A film version of Max Brooks’ best-selling novel WORLD WAR Z has been in the works since the book was first published in 2007, but all has been quiet on that front of late. But good news has come down that the project is not, er, dead.

With just about all of John Carpenter’s other ’70s/early-’80s classics getting the remake treatment over the last decade, the long-mooted redux of 1981’s ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK still hasn’t gotten off the ground. But New Line Cinema’s still trying, and has signed a new director.

Out of print for nearly a decade, IDW is bringing back the zombie comic DEADWORLD as well as putting out the first issue of their TRUE BLOOD series. More and info and the covers below!

It’s a bright and sunny day as I get off the plane at LAX and head for my rental car. I’m gearing up for the drive to the Burbank Airport Marriott, where this year’s Monsterpalooza convention is being held April 9-11.

Director Jeffery Scott Lando got in touch with Fango to talk up his latest flick, the survival chiller THIRST (not to be confused with last year’s Korean vampire drama). Actually, “chiller” is the wrong term, since the movie (for which Lando also sent some exclusive photos) is more concerned with deadly heat.
