And it’s not in a cabin in the woods. A distributor has stepped up to the plate to pick up the remake of Sam Raimi’s horror classic—and it’s not a great surprise.

Variety reports that FilmDistrict, which snapped up the orphaned DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK and also took on the independent INSIDIOUS, has partnered with Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions to release THE EVIL DEAD worldwide, with the exception of the UK and France. “For 30 years, Sam, Bruce [Campbell] and I have been looking for the right home where we could return the deadites to the big screen,” producer Rob Tapert said in a statement. “Amy Pascal and Jeff Blake at Sony and Peter Schlessel at FilmDistrict have always been incredible partners who share our passion for great storytelling as well as our obsession for scaring the pants off the audience. Together, we are looking forward to terrorizing a whole new generation.”

Raimi, Tapert and Campbell will produce the new EVIL DEAD under the Ghost House Pictures banner, with company partners Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane as executive producers. Uruguyan filmmaker Fede Alvarez, who’s made several well-regarded horror shorts, will direct from a script he wrote with Rodo Sayagues, which Diablo Cody did rewrites on. Production is scheduled to start next year.
