Saoirse Ronan, the gifted young actress presently seen in theaters in the incredible HANNA, and currently off shooting THE HOBBIT is set to star in… a Stephenie Meyer adaptation. C’mon girl.

Deadline reports Ronan will essay Melanie in the film version of Meyer’s post TWILIGHT saga novel, THE HOST.

THE HOST seems to be about a parasitic alien called Wanderer that attaches itself to young Melanie Stryder and is engrossed by the girl’s emotions and humanity. A love triangle ensues.

No word on director, but GATTACA director Andrew Niccol did pen the script and was once on deck to the take the reins.
