“The last big event movie of the summer”—according to 20th Century Fox—RISE OF THE APES has been moved up from its previously announced November 23 release date.
Twentieth Century Fox reported the news via Twitter that the PLANET OF THE APES prequel will now be released on August 5, where it will contend with THE CHANGE-UP, THE DARKEST HOUR and THE SMURFS (which opens on 8/3, a Wednesday). Here’s the tweet:
“RISE OF THE APES moves up from November 23, 2011, to August 5, 2011—last big event movie of the summer.”
Hey, what about CONAN THE BARBARIAN, FRIGHT NIGHT, SPY KIDS 4, FINAL DESTINATON 5 and UNTITLED 3D SHARK THRILLER, all of which come out after APES? RISE OF THE APES stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox and Andy Serkis.
