When you walk onto the set of something called WET DREAMS, you know to be prepared for some pretty deviant stuff. And so it goes when Fango treks to the wilds of suburban Connecticut and enters the house serving as a shooting locale for director Tom Savini’s segment of the horror anthology THE THEATRE BIZARRE. This writer has barely been there 10 minutes before Savini busts out a Blackberry, opens a photo and says, “This is the…” Well, it’s kinda adult-oriented, so click past the jump for the description and some exclusive pics.

“This is the dick-chomping pussy monster,” Savini enthusiastically tells Fango, before posing for a pic with a prosthetic member that looks pretty well chomped (1st photo below). Nearby, members of the Toetag Inc. crew, headed by assistant director Fred Vogel (2nd photo) and FX supervisor Jerami Cruise, are prepping a mockup of a naked female body that will be subjected to horrific damage we won’t reveal here. It’s all in the service of a psychosexual horror tale scripted by John Esposito, based on an gag Savini has always wanted to capture on film (the aforementioned hungry female part), inspired by a dream the FX legend/filmmaker/actor once had.

“It’s about a guy who seems to be in a really troubled marriage,” Esposito explains. “We get his backstory from this series of dreams he’s having. He’s seeing a psychiatrist, played by Tom, who is trying to get to the bottom of what’s motivating his anguish. He’s tortured metaphorically, but we actually enter his psyche and see his marriage sort of on display in this torture chamber.”

The troubled protagonist is played James Gill (3rd photo), with Debbie Rochon as his wife; one of the first shots Fango witnesses is an insert of Rochon slitting her wrist via a simple but uncomfortably realistic-looking Cruise-applied effect (4th photo). As the day and night go on, Savini and producer Michael Ruggiero (whose credits include the genre documentaries BLOODSUCKING CINEMA and GOING TO PIECES) oversee the lensing of a number of other horrific sights, including a torch-wielding executioner played by actor/CZW wrestler “Halfbreed” Billy Gram (5th photo) and the major gore gag hinted at above. Though we can’t show you the specifics just now, you can get a hint of the volume of splatter from the aftermath spattered all over Cruise (6th photo). Others of the Toetag crew involved include Shelby Vogel, Don Moore, Shawn Collins and Sean P. McCarthy, with Autumn Cook handling the straight makeup in addition to her FX contributions.
