Glass Eye Pix’s resident sound designer Graham Reznick has also proven himself a very interesting filmmaker in his own right with his surrealist nightmare of a debut, I CAN SEE YOU, and his futuristic 3-D short THE VIEWER. While talking to Fango about his episode of TALES FROM BEYOND THE PALE (debuting this week), Reznick gave us an update with some story details on what looks to be his next feature THE TELEPORT, an expansion of the aforementioned short film. Read on for the info!

“It’s coming along well,” he tells Fango. “[THE TELEPORT] is in the middle of its second draft. I’m very happy with the first draft and just polishing it up a little bit before we start approaching people.

“It’s a very, very different story” from the source, Reznick continues. “The telepathic interrogation [which THE VIEWER showcases] is the frame story and there’s a character called The Viewer in it, but where THE VIEWER was about a single murder based on an act of espionage, THE TELEPORT is about teleportation-research scientists on an off-world base who may have discovered a form of wireless teleportation.

“In this world, there’s only wired teleportation like what you see in THE FLY—two ends connected by a wire. So they discover wireless teleportation, but something goes wrong, and then there’s an alien entity that’s involved…and that’s all I’ll say at this point. It gets really crazy, and I’m very, very excited about it. Once we finish up [Ti West’s] THE INNKEEPERS in a couple of weeks, we’re going to go out full-force fundraising and trying to get it put together, and hopefully we’ll be shooting sometime in the middle of next year.”
