The Halloween season will soon be upon us, and with it will come the inevitable flood of horror disc releases. A bunch of notable titles have been set to hit the marketplace this October, including a couple that fans have been waiting a while for.
Perhaps the most notable is GIALLO (pictured), the notorious latest feature by Dario Argento starring Adrien Brody, Emmanuelle Seigner and Byron Deidra. It’s been picked up by Maya Entertainment, which releases it to DVD October 19. Another much-debated flick, Tom Six’s THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE (FIRST SEQUENCE), is coming from MPI Media Group and IFC Films on DVD and Blu-ray Oct. 5. The week before, on September 28, the two companies debut two more titles from other countries on DVD: Daniel Benmayor’s Spanish-lensed, English-language PAINTBALL and Daniel Grou’s Canadian parental-revenge shocker SEVEN DAYS.

The long-awaited commercial release of J.T. Petty’s S&MAN, meanwhile, will occur Oct. 12. Magnolia Home Entertainment unleashes this semidocumentary study of the relationship between reel and real violence on DVD and Blu-ray. Finally, Anchor Bay Entertainment has set an Oct. 26 DVD/Blu-ray date for ALTITUDE, the airborne monster movie we previously told you about here, and the Bay’s THE RIG, about a monster on an oil-drilling platform, directed by Peter Atencio and starring William Forsythe, arrives on DVD Oct. 5. Look for specs/content details and more cover art for these titles in the near future.
