We’re only days away from TRUE BLOOD’s premiere, and actor Ryan Kwanten—who plays Sookie’s older brother and Bon Temps’ resident ladies man Jason Stackhouse—had some things to say about his character and the upcoming season.

Kwanten spoke with Access Hollywood about his character, who, at Season Two’s end, apparently helped defeat Maryann Forrester and her pet, Eggs (whom Jason shot and killed). However, Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) takes credit for the act.

“Yeah, he’s not too happy that Andy is taking the glory for shooting Eggs, and while he’s getting the glory, I’m trying to deal with the fact that I’ve killed a man,” Kwanten reports. “Jason’s not one to let anyone have glory other than him. So, he doesn’t take it too well. Jason is [also] trying to wing his way into the cop force, so that’s sort of a bit of a tease for the new season.”

Speaking of teases, if you’ve been watching the TRUE BLOOD minisodes, then you saw the clip showing Jason’s encounter with something that has glowing yellow eyes. “It’s actually not a werewolf,” Kwanten reveals. “It’s something else.”

Currently, Kwanten is preparing for a pair of feature films that he’ll be shooting this summer. One of those is KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM, Joe Lynch’s (WRONG TURN 2) horror-comedy that stars Steve Zahn and Peter Dinklage. “It’s like SHAUN OF THE DEAD meets ROLE MODELS,” Ryan explains. “It’s that real black comedy that I really love.”

TRUE BLOOD’s Season Three debuts on HBO this Sunday, June 13.
