Is washing up becoming too mundane? Looking to add a dose of horror to your shower, or at least disturb your guests? Than you might want to take some time and check out Bubble Genius and their horror-themed, vegan-friendly line of soaps. They’ve got all kinds of interesting products, from the gleeful to the grotesque.

The venture started during a train trek across the U.S., as an opportunity to do something fun, creative and fulfilling. Initially, the plan was to branch out into other items such as bags, clothing and art, but soapmaking became such a fun and creative outlet that it became a full time project, and Bubble Genius was born. Longtime horror fans Paula and Sarah have worked hard to provide a wide array of products, presented on the Bubble Genius website.

There are plenty of items for horror buff, from skulls and skeletons to anatomically detailed brains and hearts. Of particular note is a skeleton-in-a-coffin soap that foams up a nice bloody red during use. From bats to bits, there’s a wonderful selection of sudsy scares offered up for your showering needs. Also, the soaps are available in a wide variety of scents, including dragon’s blood (similar to patchouli), absinthe, toasted marshmallow and cinnamon. (I’m partial to the absinthe and grapefruit scents myself.) The only real shame is that, true to the nature of soap, it doesn’t take long before the finely sculpted details fade away, leaving the familiar colored lump. Ultimately, soap is soap, but there’s still a pinch of regret when you find yourself wearing away at what really are works of horror art.

Also available are some really neat glow-in-the-dark soaps with images from a variety of classic horror films embedded within. You also have the option of submitting your own photo for a more personalized touch for gifts and such. All of the samples I received were dragon’s-blood scented, but you can request a soap in any scent, as well as size and shape, that you wish. If you’ve got an idea for a sculpted soap not currently offered, you’re invited to submit your idea, and they’ll do their very best to make it happen. Just remember: no genitalia! All of Bubble Genius’ products are made from vegetable-based glycerin and vegan-friendly; the proprietors also use recycled and recyclable packing materials, and even donate part of the profits of certain soaps to environmentally friendly causes, so you can feel good about getting clean.

While the soaps at Bubble Genius cost a little more than a typical bar at the local store, these unique, horror-themed products are well worth the price. Factor in the unique look, and you’ve got yourself a real bargain. Bubble Genius should definitely find its way into your bookmark folder, and is a must for any horror-loving homemaker.
