EXCISION is a very strange movie (in fact, according to writer/director Richard Bates Jr., even John Waters, who has a small part, thinks it’s weird). And it’s perfectly odd and twisted in all of the right ways.

VENGEANCE is the follow up to the popular cable series SPARTACUS’ first season epic, BLOOD & SAND and the prequel, GODS OF THE ARENA.  Unfortunately after the first season aired, the character of Spartacus himself, played brilliantly by relative newcomer Andy Whitfield, developed cancer and had to take an immediate hiatus from the show.  To buy Andy some much needed recovery time Starz went forth with GODS OF THE ARENA, a six-part prequel that was designed to push back the second season production with hopes that Andy would heal and rejoin the cast.  Sadly Andy announced the he was officially dropping out of the second season and shortly thereafter, passed away. The role of Spartacus was then bestowed upon Aussie actor Liam McIntyre.

Harry Potter is a name that rarely graces the pages of FANGORIA, but it is a legendary franchise rich in spells, magic, fantasy, and monsters…so why ignore it?  This week saw the release Potter fans have been waiting for, a behemoth of a Blu-ray set that dwarfs everything else out there.This massive anthology, properly named the HARRY POTTER WIZARD’S COLLECTION, is truly bursting at the seams with features and rewards for the faithful.

Have you heard that the high-definition transfer on Universal Studios Home Entertainment’s new JAWS Blu-ray is stunningly beautiful? That the sound is vivid and powerful? That the disc is a must-own? You heard correctly.

The tag line for Todd Jason Falcon Cook’s ZOMBIEFIED (on DVD from Celebrity Home Entertainment) promises a lot: “Zombie Film, Slasher Film…The Infection Begins.” Immediately the mind starts to race and figure out how a movie could combine the best elements of FRIDAY THE 13TH and DAWN OF THE DEAD. While the movie is somewhat fun, it doesn’t quite live up to that premise.

If horror is your game, you really had only one solid choice for a good scare on the major networks in recent years: the effortlessly inventive SUPERNATURAL. After last season, however, we now have a very capable second hand in the war against bad reality programs and even worse scripted shows: NBC’s GRIMM.

MEETING EVIL is a suspense thriller from NIGHTSTALKER and S. DARKO’s Chris Fisher (now on DVD from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment) with a surprisingly decent cast and an unsalvageably faulty script. Luke Wilson stars as John, a simple, mild-mannered family man who is married to Joanie (Leslie Bibb from MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN) and appears to be having a streak of unusually bad luck.
