Scott M. Baker’s THE VAMPIRE HUNTERS is a gut-wrenching, fast paced horror thriller that takes you from the back streets of Washington to the rat infested sewer systems below.

Veteran detective, Drake Matthews, and his rookie partner Alison Monroe were once two of Boston’s most promising detectives. That was, until their investigation into the city's worst homicide took them into the very bowels of society where they discovered that Vampires in fact, do exist. It was this case that saw Drake and Alison fired from the Boston PD and headed to Washington to work for one “Mr. Smith”, a mysterious figure who provides them with anything they need and  keeps them out of trouble with local police. Washington's Vampires, the books antagonists are led by Ion Zielenska, a once former Knights Templar and his bride Antoinette Varela. In the spirit of  bloodsucker lore, the masters sexually exploit their victims, then transform them into an army of the undead turning the once normal city into a bloody battleground of Vampire vs Hunter.

Scott Baker paints these characters with a funny, yet compassionate brush stroke that almost puts that wooden stake in your hand. You cheer for both hunter and hunted as the author rains battle scenes with stomach turning death and destruction around every corner. From the days of the Templars to modern streets, he humanizes the vampires need to create and expand with the violence and emptiness they leave behind them. It’s a solid read and comes highly recommended.
