When I was asked to write an article on a long-forgotten genre gem, there were several that came to mind, but one stood out as a sequel that never got the respect it deserved. Though the original ILSA: SHE WOLF OF THE SS is essential exploitation cinema, its sequel ILSA, HAREM KEEPER OF THE OIL SHEIKS is, in this writer’s opinion, just as fun, if not a better movie than its predecessor.

Imaginatively grisly and unconventionally funny, it’s a full-blooded mix of horror and comedy that never stops shocking and surprising you, and a small triumph for writer/director D. Kerry Prior.

Writer/director Todd Lincoln sees his first feature, the supernatural horror film THE APPARITION, open nationwide from Warner Bros. this Friday, August 24. It’s the latest and most significant step in Lincoln’s journey through the fright realm, which has encompassed some of the genre’s biggest and smallest names and once saw him working DUSK TILL DAWN.

When I was a child, I spent a great deal of time in the book store pouring through copies of Leonard Maltin's TV MOVIE AND VIDEO GUIDE. This was years away from the internet, long before IMDB and the Maltin book was an indispensable, essential tool for any film geek.

Although the private festival gatherings that were held for us were, well, private, it was still mayhem. As for walking around in general, it was real fun! But, just a warning, you walk away from friends for one second, you’ll lose them in the crowd and find yourself looking for what seems like hours! (See part one here)
