Is washing up becoming too mundane? Looking to add a dose of horror to your shower, or at least disturb your guests? Than you might want to take some time and check out Bubble Genius and their horror-themed, vegan-friendly line of soaps. They’ve got all kinds of interesting products, from the gleeful to the grotesque.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Austrian director Stefan Ruzowitzky (pictured) is the latest in a long line of filmmakers to be attached to Phoenix Pictures’ decade-in-development Dracula feature THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER.

Fango got the scoop from DVD outfit Synapse Films that it has picked up THE DORM THAT DRIPPED BLOOD, the 1982 slasher feature that marked the film debut of actress Daphne Zuniga.

Horror was everywhere on the big and small screens last year, and—in the limited/DVD sector, at least—it was hellishly hard to narrow down nominees for our latest Chainsaw Awards to five. (A couple of movies, like I SELL THE DEAD and ANTICHRIST, will wait till next year when they’ve had wider U.S. disc exposure.) Now it’s time for you to choose the winners.

Is Italian horror cinema really dead? Directors Lamberto Bava, Sergio Stivaletti and Ruggero Deodato have been struggling to make a fright anthology since 2008; genre legend Dario Argento can’t even get his latest picture GIALLO properly released; and in the last 15 years, only singer/director Federico Zampaglione’s SHADOWS has shown a clear personal vision and interesting take on the genre. And Jonathan Zarantonello, director of the new chiller THE BUTTERFLY ROOM, had to leave his homeland in order to make his movie, from which you can see a few exclusive behind-the-scenes photos after the jump.

Fango heard from Gene Mazza, the DecayNY FX artist who’s about to get started on special makeup for the fright feature JOB. He’ll be working alongside veteran artist John Carl Buechler on the Graymatter Films production, to be directed by John Gray.

We first broke the news yesterday about the impending DVD release of a biker-horror opus called HARD RIDE TO HELL, and now we’ve got some exclusive and grisly photos from it to share. See them, along with the cover art, after the jump!

Yes, you read that right. And this is even funnier than Nicolas Cage karate-kicking Leelee Sobieski in the WICKER remake. Click past the jump to get the link!

There is a hidden horror gem in New York City: The Last Rites Gallery. Mixing Gothic and Grand Guignol, part art space and part ink parlor, the gallery, owned by legendary tattoo artist Paul Booth, hosts artists who explore the darker side, whose images are drawn from the shadowy parts of the soul and force you to re-examine the fear that lurks in your subconscious. One of them is painter/sculptor/illustrator Craig LaRotonda of Revelation Studios.

The trouble with a moral compass is failure to acknowledge shifting poles. When I’ve made statements like “sacred cows beg for slaughter,” and “the very concept of a taboo subject invites irreverence,” all I’m really saying is, “I am completely lacking the foresight to predict a movie called INCEST DEATH SQUAD and the possibility that I will be asked to review it.”

Spawn Atomic’s new POWERPLANT EP, recently issued on CD and just out on vinyl, showcases a solid sound delivering the band’s clever brand of horror-punk. POWERPLANT takes right off, and immediately you know where they’re going: right into a Misfits-worshipping realm of zombies, werewolves, blood, guts and sex—and it’s a lot of fun!

• Bypassing originally announced theatrical release, the modern Edgar Allan Poe variation TELL TALE is currently available as a Blockbuster exclusive and has now set a date for retail disc release.
