Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone got his start in the fright genre, writing and directing SEIZURE and THE HAND. Now his son Sean is following in his dad’s footsteps, making his feature directorial debut with a horror pic.
Fango got the news that Sean Stone (pictured) will helm SECRETSTONE, financed by The Robert Evans Company and Henri Kessler’s Pacific Transmedia Corporation. Scripted by Stone—who previously helmed a documentary about his dad called FIGHT AGAINST TIME, featurettes on Oliver’s ALEXANDER and the short sci-fi thriller SINGULARITY—and Alexander Wraith, SECRETSTONE takes place in a haunted psychiatric hospital with a history of radical therapies (when previously announced as SHADOWLAND, the setting was described as the place where Rosemary Kennedy was lobotomized). A group of filmmakers venture into the place, only to discover they’re not alone within its walls. Stone and Wraith will also star in the movie along with Antonella Lentini; Oliver Stone (whose latest feature WALL STREET: MONEY NEVER SLEEPS just debuted at Cannes) and veteran actress Monique van Vooren will have cameos.
“I come from a storytelling tradition and have been preparing for this my entire life,” Sean says. “Now that I have the backing from Pacific Transmedia, I look forward to entertaining audiences.” The $2-million SECRETSTONE, which rolls in July in New Jersey, is the first of a potential four films he will make with the company; Mind the Gap/Headlong Entertainment’s Kaila York and Giulia Prenna are the producers.
