The new MANIAC has been scalping his way across the festival
circuit over the past year, and now he’s coming to your home and the big
screen. Read on for the exclusive word on the film’s release.
Fango got the scoop that MANIAC, directed by Franck Khalfoun and written/produced by the HIGH TENSION/THE HILLS HAVE EYES team of Alexandre Aja and Grégory Levasseur, will be released by IFC Films June 21 to select theaters, as well as cable VOD, iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, SundanceNow.com, Xbox and Playsation platforms, under the IFC Midnight banner. Elijah Wood takes over for Joe Spinell as Frank, a mother-fixated psychopath who stalks and slaughters a series of women, while striking up a tentative friendship with a young artist (Nora Arnezeder). Original MANIAC director William Lustig was also a producer on the remake.
