Netflix's third original series, and their first foray into
horror (guided by Eli Roth, no less), HEMLOCK GROVE hits next month and its
poster aims to turn common werewolf perception inside out.
“Who’s really the monster,” horror stories have asked for a long, long time now. HEMLOCK GROVE, whose promotional materials have danced around its lycanthropy so far, has now put the monstrous nature on full display with that age-old twist.
A tale of death, class divides, gypsies and seemingly werewolves, HEMLOCK GROVE (based on the novel from Brian McGreevy) revolves around the murder of a young girl in a ravaged Pennsylvania steel town, where suspicions rise that the culprit might not be human—and may have escaped from a nearby biotech facility. TWIN PEAKS has been cited as parallel and influence and its previous trailer certainly holds to strange, illicit happenings around a small town, that reach far beyond mere murder.
Famke Janssen, Dougray Scott, Lily Taylor, Bill Skarsgård and Landon Liboiron star. The Roth-directed pilot, as well as the other twelve episodes of HEMLOCK GROVE all premiere on Netflix April 19. [EW premiered]
