Launched last June, Telefilm Canada has announced the finalists in their first Micro Budget Production Program and some of the genre's most buzzed up-and-comers are among the recipients.
Having exploded into the cult community with a mass of shorts and ludicrous, squalid, violent features like FATHER'S DAY and MANBORG, Canada's collective Astron-6 is undoubtedly on the rise. Now, they've garnered government attention in the aforementioned program that aims to "support new filmmakers seeking to produce their first feature-length films, with special emphasis on digital-media production and marketing methods."
One of eight finalists, Astron-6's Matthew Kennedy and Adam Brooks will helm THE EDITOR, which regular Astron actress Meredith Sweeney previously told FANGORIA, is "70s Italian-style horror movie about a movie editor." Keep an eye on Fango for more as the film develops.
