Time and again, it's been the cast that elevates the goofyweird nature of AMERICAN HORROR STORY to something splendid. Now, Kathy Bates joins what's becoming the series' regular roster for whatever nasty fun Ryan Murphy has in store.
TV Line reports Bates has come aboard the third season of AMERICAN HORROR STORY as what will amount to being Jessica Lange's nemesis. This run has already been described as femme-centric, "historical in nature," taking place in different cities and starring Lange as a "glamour cat leading lady" (something I've always wanted to be and which hopefully means a ton of glittery sweaters). Bates is the first bit of new blood to be announced and is, of course, iconic for her portrayal of Annie Wilkes in MISERY.
She joins AHS veterans Sarah Paulson, Taissa Farmiga, Evan Peters and "she who constantly threatens Lange's reign as the queen of this series," Lily Rabe.
