With the 3-D craze in full swing, everybody’s rushing to jump on the bandwagon, including those in the independent horror scene. And the new Hammer Films is the latest to take the dimensional plunge.

Word came down today that the previously announced THE WOMAN IN BLACK will now be the venerable British studio’s first 3-D production. Co-financed by Exclusive Media Group and Alliance Films, WOMAN will be directed by EDEN LAKE’s James Watkins from a script by KICK-ASS’ Jane Goldman, based on the novel by Susan Hill. The story involves a young lawyer who goes to a remote country house to sort out the affairs of a deceased client, and uncovers dark secrets tied to sightings of the mysterious title character. “James Watkins has a huge fan base from his award-winning suspense horror EDEN LAKE, Jane Goldman thrilled audiences worldwide with her script for KICK-ASS and Susan Hill’s extraordinarily chilling novel has won over readers everywhere,” says producer/Hammer CEO Simon Oakes, and Exclusive co-chairman Guy East adds, “Because of the tremendous pedigree of those involved, the interest in this project has been enormous for us from very early on and…the recent decision to shoot the film in 3-D will create a genuinely immersive experience for the audience.” A cast has yet to be announced.
