It was announced late last year that Glen Mazzara was stepping down as showrunner of the AMC zombie TV
favorite, and now it looks like a replacement is at hand.
Variety reports that Scott M. Gimple, a writer/producer on THE WALKING DEAD, is in talks to become the new showrunner beginning with the fourth season. He’d become the third person to hold that position, with Mazzara having taken over for the departed Frank Darabont in 2011; Mazzara and AMC, according to both parties, split amicably due to creative differences. Gimple has also written and produced for TV’s LIFE, CHASE and FLASHFORWARD, and co-scripted GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE. The second half of WALKING DEAD’s third season begins airing Sunday, February 10.
