As if we weren't already on high alert for Guillermo del Toro's PACIFIC RIM, materials from its Pan Pacific Defense Corps are hitting online and counting down to... something.

Guillermo del Toro sports a notorious eye for detail and vast imagination. The word out of this past summer's San Diego Comic Con was not only tremendously exciting, as expected, but one that within PACIFIC RIM, the PAN'S LABYRINTH director and writer Travis Beacham were really world-building, dropping the audience in an environment where Kaiju is an established threat and the mechas, called Jaegers, are not exactly shiny and new.

It's a film with history and mythology, and today's unleashing of a viral presence and countdown (hopefully to a trailer), hints at just what this world is like. The official website of the Pan Pacific Defense Corps (a military outfit designed to deal specifically with Kaiju) is live, linking to a video of the Kaiju Emergency Alert System in San Francisco, one of the many cities established alongside the Pacific Rim. Total Film also snagged a memo from the Great Britain Air Command to the Pan Pacific Defense Corps, nominating a roster of fighter pilots for inclusion in the Jaeger program, to help defend those countries in the affected area.

You can see both the memo and video below, and find out more at the Pan Pacific Defense Corps.
