They're certainly not selling themselves short. And it's kind of cool.
Fede Alvarez's remake of the Sam Raimi classic, frankly, looks awesome. Its trailer garnered tremendous response at New York Comic Con and once again, when it was released online. Is this too much, however? Does this poster toe the line of overdoing it, or is it an impressive bit of self assurance. I certainly appreciate the bravura. And it's certainly a neat image.
The film, starring Jane Levy and DEADGIRL's Shiloh Fernandez finds "five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival."
EVIL DEAD is out April 12, 2013.
