Get a look at the upcoming James Wan (SAW, INSIDIOUS) period haunter, THE CONJURING.

The first image (premiered by EW) features Vera Farmiga in her role as legendary real-life paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren and a creepy jack-in-the-box. If we had to guess, it’s a replica of a piece found in the Warren Occult Museum, a collection of oddities assembled by Ed and Lorraine Warren over the years of their paranormal research. The photo gives a great taste of the excellent production design by Julie Berghoff (SAW, DEAD SILENCE).

We’re pretty excited for this one and apparently, so are test audiences. So much so, in fact, that Warner Brothers pushed the film back to a July 2013 release, a true rarity for a genre picture. THE CONJURING tells the story of the Perron family, besieged by an evil spirit in their home and seek the assistance of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.

Readers might recognize the Warrens from their investigations of the Amityville case, as well. The events detailed in THE CONJURING take place just before the most infamous haunting in America. The film stars Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Ron Livingston, Lili Taylor, Mackenzie Foy and features original music from Wan’s INSIDIOUS composer, Joseph Bishara.
