SINISTER is one of our favorite horror films this year, and
the good news just came down that the creative duo responsible for it have a
new feature in the works.
CBS Films has announced that SINISTER writer/director Scott Derrickson and co-scripter C. Robert Cargill will reunit on the film version of the popular Square Enix video game DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION. The latest entry in the DEUS EX franchise that launched in 2000, HUMAN REVOLUTION came out in 2011 to huge sales and over 100 industry awards. The futuristic storyline concerns Adam Jensen, an ex-SWAT security specialist who must undergo mechanical augmentation in order to unravel a global conspiracy. “DEUS EX is a phenomenal cyberpunk game with soul and intelligence,” Derrickson says. “By combining amazing action and tension with big, philosophical ideas, DEUS EX is smart, ballsy and will make one hell of a movie. Cargill and I can’t wait to bring it to the big screen.”
The movie will be produced by Roy Lee and Adrian Askarieh and executive-produced by John P. Middleton. Derrickson is also currently working on the supernatural detective feature BEWARE THE NIGHT for producer Jerry Bruckheimer (see item here), and the Stephen King adaptation THE BREATHING METHOD for SINISTER producer Blumhouse Pictures.
