Richard Clabaugh, the cinematographer (THE PROPHECY, PHANTOMS) turned director (PYTHON), gave us a few words about his new sci-fi thriller EYEBORGS, which stars Adrian Paul, Megan Blake, Luke Eberl and Danny Trejo (pictured). The movie hits DVD and Blu-ray July 6 from Image Entertainment.
“The story involves a near future in which, following another 9/11-type attack, the government institutes more rigorous surveillance,” Clabaugh tells Fango, “including the creation of mobile cameras capable of recognizing, and stopping, suspicious activity before a crime is committed. The intention is to prevent another terror attack, but an agent for the Department of Homeland Security—Adrian as Robert J. ‘Gunner’ Reynolds—stumbles onto a plot to assassinate the President at the final election debate, and comes to suspect the Eyeborgs have been compromised with someone using our own defense system against us.”
While that synopsis sounds like a political thriller, Clabaugh assures Fangorians that there’s plenty of killer-robot action—including a juicy brain-drilling. The movie will be presented on the discs in anamorphic 2.35:1 widescreen, with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound on the DVD and DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio on the Blu-ray. The special features are:
• Behind-the-scenes featurettes
• Deleted scenes
• Trailer
Retail price is $27.98 for the DVD, $29.98 for the Blu-ray. See EYEBORGS’ trailer below and its official website here.
