The second 2012 picture based on the life of the Master of Suspense focuses on the fight to get PSYCHO made.
Hitting theaters this November is Sacha Gervasi's chronicle/underdog tale of an aging Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins) and the shocking, seminal film he'd go on to make in 1960.
HITCHCOCK seems a stylish dramedy focusing on the moment of PSYCHO and the strong support of the filmmaker's wife Alma (Helen Mirren). It's an interesting counterpart to HBO's upcoming THE GIRL and that film's portrait of dark, obsessive filmmaker. Both, however, look like they'll succeed, and in no small part to keeping their stories specific, rather than the often broad, career-spanning biopics that tend to hit the same beats.
HITCHCOCK is out November 23, 2012. You can see its trailer at iTunes.
