Park Chan-wook's English debut looks breathtaking.
Two trailers now exist for STOKER, the OLDBOY director's upcoming tale of a young woman and the newly resurfaced uncle that shakes up an already dysfunctional existence. They both paint a stunning portrait of what to expect, and as with much of Chan-wook's work, it seems no one will come out looking too good. The international clip (which premiered at Empire), however, has Nicole Kidman a bit less vicious than in the stateside.
"After India's (Mia Wasikowska) father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother Evelyn (Nicole Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him."
STOKER is out March 1, 2013. It looks not to-be-missed.
