Just in time for Halloween month, surrealist painter/tattoo artist Vincent Castiglia (see Fango profile here) will be the subject of an upcoming art exhibition entitled RESURRECTION. The show, taking place in Castiglia’s hometown of New York City, will feature a collection of paintings in which the artist utilized his own blood as a medium. The exhibition will be held at Sacred Art Gallery (located on the second floor of 424 Broadway, between Canal and Howard) from October 4-31.

Castiglia is the first American artist to receive a solo exhibition invitation from Oscar-winning artist H.R. Giger in the history of the H.R. Giger Museum Gallery. Castiglia’s work has been featured on TLC’s MIAMI INK and as the official movie poster for MTV New Media’s slasher flick SAVAGE COUNTY. Castiglia has been praised by fellow painters, tattoo artists and forensic photographers alike.

Describing his solo show, Castiglia says, “This exhibit is the culmination of a lifetime of searching and posing many questions through images, making declarations of truths uncovered and pouring a myriad of emotions, conflicts and bliss into these coagulations which delineate all aspects of the past decade of my life.”

The RESURRECTION exhibition will be kicked off with an opening reception on October 4 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. For more information on Castiglia, go here
