Hot on the heels of news that Ryan Gosling will make his directorial debut on a genre project comes word that another acting Ryan, Phillippe to be exact, is taking his turn at the helm on a fear feature.

Screen Daily revealed that Phillippe, who previously ventured into horrific territory with I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, will direct CHAINED for Marc Burg’s Twisted Pictures (the folks behind the SAW franchise) and producer Cassian Elwes. Phillippe also scripted and will star in the movie as troubled young thesp Reagan Pearce, who is kidnapped during a location shoot in a small town and held captive by miscreants in a swamp-bound shack. There, he is forced to watch helplessly as these mysterious men expose his secrets to the world and destroy his image and career, and eventually undertakes a violent escape and revenge.
