The ambitious, long-gestating DARK TOWER adaptation keeps on gestating.
Variety is reporting that Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's proposed telling of Stephen King's sprawling series is now dead at Warner Bros. Universal previously passed on the project—which would've seen three films with HBO-produced seasons in between—due to its large budget, and while there's no comment from Warners, it's like the same scenario.
It seems Howard and Grazer, and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman are free to take the project where they please for additional attempts at getting it off the ground.
