Tony Burgess' brilliant tale of linguistics and the undead has spanned literature and a wonderful film from Bruce McDonald. Now, very appropriately, it's set to hit the stage this fall.
The heady zombie film about the degradation of our civility through the shit we talk mostly encompasses one location, that of shock jock Grant Mazzy's studio. PONTYPOOL sees Mazzy, his team and even some of his guests deal with and work through the ensuing apocalypse outside their doors. It's prime for a stage piece (especially when adapted by Burgess himself) and hopefully the Strawdog Theatre Company do it justice when PONTYPOOL runs October 13-November 4 at Hugen Hall (3829 N. Broadway).
