German filmmaker Dennis Gansel will helm a tale of the one night a year we'll fear most. 

To-be-produced by THE STRANGERS director Bertino (who's finally returning to features with MOCKINGBIRD), the film sees a world where one night, each year, horrible creatures arise from the ground, annihilating plenty in their path. GRIM NIGHT focuses on an American small town attempting to defend themselves on such an evening. 

Universal is currently negotiating with Gansel to helm the picture. If you'll remember, Fango's Tony Timpone quite liked his foreign female-driven vampire movie, so hopefully he and Bertino can bring this neato-sounding bit of original horror to life.
