Indie director Joseph Christiana and his co-hosts from their hit podcast THE CUTTING ROOM, Thomas Dettloff and William Bourassa Jr., are hoping you’ll want to take part in an experiment. They aren’t just making a movie, they’re going to give audiences an unprecedented look into the filmmaking process and the opportunity to influence various aspects of the production.

Listeners to their podcast have already begun altering the fate of the production by choosing EXPERIMENTS IN KILLING as the script they wanted to see made into a feature. The next steps are being taken now – the official Kickstarter page for the film went live today and the accompanying podcast, EXPERIMENTS IN PODCASTING, launches tomorrow on the Horror Palace podcasting network. Through this show, listeners will be able to hear production meetings, audio diaries and other exclusive behind the scenes content. They will also be asked to help the filmmakers make decisions about the production; and what the people demand, the people will get!

At first glance, it may appear to be a bit of a gimmick, but the prospect of just being able to take that fly on a wall view of the production is exciting, particularly for aspiring indie filmmakers. You will see the struggles, the beautiful agony and ecstasy of the creative process and probably learn a hell of a lot about the process, to boot. What’s unprecedented here, is the added ability to influence various aspects of the production through listener polls.

One of the things missing from a major studio production is a sense of danger, a sense that anything could happen and disaster for the production lurks around the corner. To me, this energy is exactly what makes indie shoots so interesting and so full of life. This risk the filmmakers are taking has a certain rubbernecker kind of appeal, if that is what you are into.

Filmmakers and fans alike should not miss this! Head on over to their Kickstarter page and get a feel for the project and then subscribe to EXPERIMENTS IN PODCASTING so you can keep up with the action.
