One of the most striking Australian imports on the recent
scream scene, writer/director Sean Byrne’s THE LOVED ONES is set to make its
U.S. DVDebut this fall. Read on for the details and first peek at the cover
art.
Winner of the Toronto International Film Festival’s Midnight Madness People’s Choice award, THE LOVED ONES stars Xavier Samuel (pictured, from ROAD KILL and the soon-to-be-released BAIT 3D) as Brent, a high-schooler who’s the object of obsession of disturbed classmate Lola (Robin McLeavy, just seen as the future President’s ill-fated mother in ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER). When he spurns her invitation to accompany her to the prom, she schemes to abduct him and hold him captive in her house for a very private and twisted celebration. The DVD, out September 11 from Paramount Home Media Distribution, will present the uncut, unrated version of the movie, in 16x9 widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound and UltraViolet capability for streaming and downloading, plus interviews with Samuel, McLeavy and makeup FX supervisor Justin Dix. Retail price is $19.99; THE LOVED ONES will also be available on-demand and for digital download. See the trailer below and our review of the film here and check out Fango #314 for an interview with Byrne.
