Rick pulling rank, Michonne chopping heads, The Governor making threats and, of course, Merle. Season three of THE WALKING DEAD looks like a hard ass time on TV.

As you may imagine, San Diego Comic-Con has been madness, which means lines, lines, lines. Thus, I'm essentially seeing this footage alongside you (I missed the panel). There's no denying though, that this clip reel from the upcoming third season of THE WALKING DEAD probably blew the roof off of Hall H. I worried the introductions of Michonne and The Governor would seem out of place in the very grounded and serious adaptation of the beloved comic book, but that may have been just what it needs. Both characters are a tad over-the-top, but it looks like David Morrissey and Danai Gurira are finding the humanity (or lack thereof) underneath, while adding spice and grit as well.

Fango sat down with the cast and creators of THE WALKING DEAD. That's coming soon, but between this footage and comments made, it sounds as if season three will be furious, unflinching and interestingly all about parallels; parallels between the Prison and Woodbury, Rick and the Governor and even Rick & Lori and the budding, forging relationship of Glen & Maggie.

THE WALKING DEAD returns October 14.
