Over the last few weeks, we’ve reported on several updates for Frank Darabont’s upcoming AMC zombie series based on Robert Kirkman's Image comic. Now, the female lead has been announced.

EW got the scoop that PRISON BREAK’s Sarah Wayne Callies will star as Lori Grimes, the wife of the show’s hero, police officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), who is trying to lead a group of survivors to safety after a zombie apocalypse.
