It’s a big day for Spanish cinema news… The word just came down this morning about a new feature from the writer and director of THE ORPHANAGE, and now the production company behind that film has announced a new fright flick of its own. Rodar Y Rodar is in development on a supernatural thriller called SCARS.

Screen Daily reports that the movie will be helmed by TV/shorts director Sergi Vizcaino (pictured) from a screenplay by Daniel Padro. The plot concerns a bunch of university students who travel to an abandoned village that’s supposedly a haven for paranormal entities. No surprise, it is—specifically, it’s haunted by a nasty ghost that only Diana, the sister of group leader Angela, can see. Spanish sales company DeaPlaneta will be selling SCARS at this month’s Cannes Film Festival, along with JULIA’S EYES, another Rodar Y Rodar genre film, which was directed by Guillem Morales, stars ORPHANAGE’s Belén Rueda and had Guillermo del Toro as one of its producers.
