The unnerving festival hit is out this August.
Inspired by an incident in which a man posed as a police officer and subsequently manipulated the manager of a fast food restaurant (among others) into degrading and assaulting an employee, all through a phone call, Craig Zobel's film is a true exercise in discomfort. Its onscreen events are appalling and I suspect most audiences' quiet realization they'd be susceptible to much of the same is the cause for its contentious Q&As at Sundance this past winter.
COMPLIANCE is some true psychological horror, with incredible work from Dreama Walker and THE INNKEEPERS' Pat Healy. For more, pick up FANGORIA #316 for talks with the two actors and writer/director Zobel. COMPLIANCE is out August 17.
