While indie filmmaker Christian Jude Grillo closes in on a
distribution deal for his backwoods shocker DEER CROSSING (which we last
reported on here),
he already has plans to shoot the sequel, and gave us the first look at two
advance posters and info on the plot and cast, including a couple of familiar
genre names.
DEER CROSSING 2: THE LEGEND OF CARVIN COUNTY will continue the saga of the horror-plagued region where a mother and son are held captive by a psychopath in the first movie. Grillo provided the following synopsis: “Carvin County’s new deputy, Derrick Stanswood, now acts as sheriff during the absence of drug-depressed Andy Lock. Stanswood assembles a team to help him cleanse the corruption of the town and of its underground drug queenpin, Gail Kennedy. A wild card enters the mix, putting Stanswood in a race against time and forcing Gail to quickly cover her tracks. Stanswood has to look deep into the legend of Carvin County to determine how to stop the current crime wave that has been paved by prior generations.”
Horror vet Doug Bradley (pictured above in the first CROSSING) is likely to return in the Sheriff Lock role, and Grillo adds, “We have signed Addy Miller [the little-girl zombie in THE WALKING DEAD’s premiere episode] to play the young version of Gail Kennedy. She will be joined by John Amplas of MARTIN and DAY OF THE DEAD, who will play her father Skinny—the founder of the crime gang that Gail grows up in, hence molding her into a carreer criminal.”
