Expanding its bid to foster new and exciting genre features,
Montreal’s Fantasia film festival has added 10 more projects to the slate
originally announced a few weeks ago for its first Frontières International
Co-Production Market. This Off-Frontières lineup includes movies from a number
of familiar names.
The 10 movies, in various stages of development, which will be showcased in Off-Frontières are:
• CUT THROATS NINE, writer/director Rodrigo Gudiño’s remake of the bloody cult-classic Euro-Western, produced by Marco Pecota
• MEMENTO MORI, from writer/director/producer Jovanka Vukovic, who recently premiered her first short THE CAPTURED BIRD, and writer/producer Jason Lapeyre
• MYTHOSE, the feature debut of writer/director Albéric Aurtenèche, produced by MARTYRS’ Simon Trottier
• N.O.I.R., written and directed by Yves Christian Fournier and produced by Quebec veteran Nicole Robert
• NOON TOMORROW, writer/director/producer Paul Hough’s follow-up to THE HUMAN RACE, which will screen at Fantasia
• PEDDLER’S GRAVE, the new film from THE AGGRESSION SCALE’s director Steven C. Miller, screenwriter Ben Powell and producer Travis Stevens
• SUGAR CANDY BLUES, the latest from Fantasia and Fango favorite Simon Rumley, written and produced by Rowan O’Neill
• SWEET BLOOD, directed by GRAVEYARD ALIVE’s Elza Kephart from a script she wrote with producer Patricia Gomez Zlatar; Christine Falco also produces
• THE BEAT, SURRENDER!, written and directed by THE DESCENDANT’s Philippe Spurell
• WAIT TILL HELEN COMES, written and produced by actress Victoria Sanchez (ETERNAL, BLOOD MOON), based on a novel by Mary Downing Hahn
Off-Frontières will be part of the inaugural Fantasia Industry Rendez-Vous, running in the midst of the festival from July 26-29. Fantasia itself takes place July 19-August 7, and you can find out more at its official website.
