An ATOMIC BRAIN INVASION is heading for Earth, and we’ve got the scoop on the DVD release, including the first look at the final art (and a design that was dropped) and the trailer, plus the skinny on forthcoming discs of another pair of genre flicks.

Camp Motion Pictures gave Fango the word that ATOMIC BRAIN INVASION, from prolific director Richard Griffin, lands October 2 on DVD as well as digital markets. Set in 1956 in a small New England town, the movie focuses on a group of high-schoolers trying to stop an invading army of brain creatures from abducting none other than Elvis Presley. The cast includes Sarah Nicklin, David Lavallee, Jr., Michael Reed, Rich Tretheway, Alexandra Cipolla, David Wilson, Daniel Lee White, Colin Carlton and Brandon Luis Aponte; special features accompanying the 16x9 transfer on the disc include audio commentary by Griffin, producer Ted Marr and actors White and Wilson, plus a Camp Motion Pictures trailer vault; retail price is $19.98.

You can see the trailer after the covers below, the first of which is the release version. Camp’s Paige Davis tells Fango, “In our efforts to convey the all-ages appropriateness and sheer entertainment value of what is in my opinion Richard’s strongest film to date, we considered and discarded many strong marketing campaigns—ultimately selecting an original oil painting by noted illustrator and artist Vince Evans, creator of the original art for THE BASEMENT VHS/DVD Collection. We felt, and Richard agreed, that the painting evokes both EC Comics covers and ’80s horror/comedies, sources that served as inspiration for the film.”

Camp’s sister company Independent Entertainment has director Eamon Hardiman’s PORKCHOP II: RISE OF THE RIND and ZOMBIE BABIES coming September 25. The former is the second in Hardiman’s trilogy of bloodbaths concerning a pig-masked killer terrorizing a small town (which Hardiman discussed with us here), while the latter is about aborted fetuses that are reanimated and go on a flesheating rampage. Both of these discs will include audio commentary, behind-the-scenes segments and trailers, retailing for $14.95 each. You can find out more about Camp and Independent’s titles here
