The cinematic soulmates behind SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ are reuniting for the trilogy's end.

Deadline reports that Working Title Films and Edgar Wright (SPACED, SCOTT PILGRIM) are planning a September start for the end, THE WORLD'S END. The seeming conclusion to the unofficially and endearingly monikered "Cornetto Trilogy" began with SHAUN and HOT FUZZ will see Wright return to direct a script from himself and star Simon Pegg.

Truthfully, it's unclear what (if any) genre elements will be present, but it seems likely; and regardless, it's a joy to see Wright, Pegg and Nick Frost together again. Here's the current official synopsis: "20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries."

There are few filmmakers currently working with the talent, energy and heart possessed by Wright, and alongside his SPACED collaborators, they're a force. This is undoubtedly very exciting news.
