FANGORIA hung out on the red (actually blood-splattered) carpet this past week at the AMONG FRIENDS premiere, sponsored by the Viscera Film Fest. Held at the Jon Lovitz Club in Universal Studios, CA., horror veteran Danielle Harris was there to debut her feature directorial debut, AMONG FRIENDS.

“This is more exciting than any premiere of any movie that I’ve been in,” Harris said.  “It’s nice to be on the other side of it. I’m getting to see all my old friends. To have all these other actors and filmmakers come out in support of me is freaking awesome!”

Celebs sighted on the carpet include Sybil Danning, Michael Rooker, and of course the amazing cast from AMONG FRIENDS. I got a quick word from Michael Rooker as he was heading into the theatre. He spoke of his work with Harris, “We are old friends. We have worked together two times. I even played her father once. I’m here to hoot and holler.”

Being a female filmmaker, Danielle Harris worked with the renowned Viscera Film Fest to plan the premiere, and Viscera was thrilled to be there and help support Harris and the picture. I caught up with Shannon Lark from Viscera who spoke about the group’s work, “Our mission is to assist female genre filmmakers. That includes horror, sci-fi, and fantasy. We help them to receive promotion and really get a leg up in the film community.”

No word on release just yet for AMONG FRIENDS, but keep an eye out for FANGORIA #314 (on sale this May) for an exclusive talk with Harris! And keep up with the film at its official site.
