LIVID, the yet-to-be released sophomore film from INSIDE (A L'INTERIEUR) directors Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury is being remade. Ugh.
Having played Toronto and Fantastic Fest last fall to mixed reaction (it's a much different film than the ultra visceral INSIDE), LIVID is currently somewhere waiting to be distributed stateside by The Weinstein Company. Now, Deadline reports that its French distributor, SND, is developing an English language remake with writer David Birke and producers Doug Davison (THE STRANGERS, THE GRUDGE)) and Robert Leger.
LIVID sees a young nurse-in-training break into the estate of a famous dancer, now elderly and comatose, in search of fortune. She and her companions are soon trapped inside and taken on a surreal and horrifying journey.
The original film is weird, eerie and poetic, and holds a personality probably not easily replicated. It could certainly be streamlined into a straighter narrative (if that's what they're looking for), but it sounds like a bummer to do so.
