The upcoming Kimberly Peirce (BOYS DON'T CRY) helmed remake of CARRIE has a couple of candidates in mind for the title role.
Vulture is reporting rumblings that young actresses Chloe Grace Moretz (LET ME IN, HUGO, DARK SHADOWS) and Haley Bennett (THE HAUNTING OF MOLLY HARTLEY, Joe Dante's THE HOLE) are currently the top contenders to take up the pig blood-soaked mantle of Sissy Spacek. They're apparently in the lead of a strong lineup of ladies who've already read, including Dakota Fanning, Emily Browning (SUCKER PUNCH, SLEEPING BEAUTY), Bella Heathcote and recent EVIL DEAD dropout Lily Collins.
Meanwhile, it seems Peirce is aiming for the likes of Jodie Foster and Julianne Moore for Carrie's maniacal fundamentalist mother Margaret White. That's strong pedigree adding to the potential Peirce holds for a wholly unnecessary, yet intriguing redo.
