If you didn't get enough of young Norman & Mother in PSYCHO IV: THE BEGINNING, get pumped.

The Hollywood Reporter dropped the news that A&E is developing BATES MOTEL, a PSYCHO prequel series that "would offer an understanding into how Norman Bates' psyche developed and would tell the back story of the film's killer, learning of how his mother, Norma, and her lover damaged him, transforming him into serial-killing motel owner."

While basing a whole series around the motherly cruelty PSYCHO fans are well aware of feels odd and unnecessary, it's an intriguing choice, and one that sparks curiosity. 

The site points out there was already a TV movie of the same name, which followed a disturbed asylum-mate of Norman's who inherits the hotel following the iconic killer's demise (and starred Lori Petty!).
