The TV portion of Ron Howard's DARK TOWER adaptation has found a home!
Following his comments of confidence in a new, budget cutting draft of the first film in the series, producer Brian Grazer has told MTV "We're going to do THE DARK TOWER with HBO. We'll do the TV with HBO, and we'll do the movie with… to be determined. We'll do it right." The plan is to adapt Stephen King's epic tale of the last gunslinger, Roland Deschain and his quest for the eponymous world-bending structure, with three films and two seasons of television.
Further speaking to the budget cuts, he explained, "We're going to do that movie. We've lost $45 million out of the budget," he said. "When people say no to you enough, then you have to lose money, which we've done without harming the scope of the film."
There's kind of no question that HBO was the home for something like this, with the variety and quality of the original stories they tell. Hopefully the features find an equally reassuring residence.
